WELCOME TO AN ONLINE WORKSHOP FOR THE SOUTHERN PINE BEETLE! This workshop is part of a collaborative effort by research entomologists representing the USDA Forest Service, Texas Forest Service, University of Georgia, and Virginia Tech. Our mission is to develop the methodology and instructional materials and programs necessary to achieve operational application of tactics using behavioral chemicals to suppress and manipulate SPB infestations and protect high value resources. This workshop is an extension of the overall Verbenone Technology Development Project and represents a major component of the technology transfer program which aims to put the technology and the knowledge in the hands of the user. This online workshop provides around the clock information and training on the procedures and steps necessary to use the verbenone control tactic as well as a comprehensive overview of the southern pine beetle, its environment, and important associates. We hope this site provides you with adequate instructional materials. If you have any comments or suggestions upon completion of this workshop, send e-mail to Webmaster. Your input will help us improve our service to you.

You will need to allow approximately 60 minutes to adequately cover all the material in this workshop. Any of the material found here can be printed for future reference. Finally, we urge you to go through the Review and Troubleshooting sessions before taking the training sessions.
