Southern Pine Beetle Killed Trees during Fall

These trees were attacked and killed by southern pine beetle during the Fall. The foliage of such trees may not fade until early or late Spring depending on the weather and geographic location. Notice, the pine on the left is missing bark yet the foliage is still green. These trees will fade when daily temperatures begin to inrease in the Spring, often sending false alarms of active infestations since many of these types of spots never resume growth.
